‘Living’ begins only after a person is free from the worries of earning a livelihood. A degree from IIT or any good engineering/medical college is one of the 'best' ways to eliminate that worry, especially for someone from as competitive a place as India.
Very few people succeed in converting their hobbies into professions. It is wiser to first have a career which supports the individual and his family financially, and then explore what you want towards self actualization.
Remember that millions are waiting to reach where you want to reach. Only the best will actually reach, with some luck. The rest will be lost in mediocrity, struggling with ordinary survival issues of life.
It is difficult to explore life freely unless one is able to support him or herself, and one's loved ones, financially and emotionally.
Actions performed for earning livelihood through rightful means are essential and part of our inner 'life' program. Study for people in their late teens is one such action. It helps us to stand on our own feet, free to live life the way we want to.
Taming mind functions...
Ordinary mind loves to breed aimlessly wandering thoughts. One should learn to detach oneself with the thought weaving mind and remain centered in consciousness, which is the same as awareness or true I-ness or stillness.
The brain functions best in absence of non-essential thoughts.
Thoughts of the future, which do not affect immediate present actions, are non-essential.
The untamed mind is very scared of failure or shattering of its dreams and ambitions.
The fool creates a future dream-world and keeps brooding about it. The wise perform actions as per their intuitive wisdom, or enjoy being still and silent.
A wise person is able to direct his mind wherever he wants.
Consciousness is above the mind, which is a thinking mechanism. Consciousness is what makes us conscious of ourselves and the world.
With the mind silent, consciousness becomes limitless.
A silent mind can be focused on anything. A mind clouded with egotistical thoughts, fear of failure, and non-essential desires cannot be focused on the job at hand. One then makes mistakes in whatever one is doing, especially if the job requires advanced mental ability.
An unclouded mind functions extremely well.
Remaining alert to non-essential thoughts and day-dreams, the wise focus the mind on study or any essential activity.
Blaming others for one's troubles is unproductive.
